Tropical Fish Co is a UK retailer of live tropical fish and aquarium supplies, delivering livestock and equipment to fishkeepers across the country. It is one of the hardest categories to sell online: every customer has questions about compatibility, water chemistry and care before they buy, the catalogue changes constantly, and orders are time-sensitive because the stock is alive.
To compete with big-budget pet retailers — and to be found in the new wave of AI answer engines — they needed more than a standard store. Hand On Web built them a fast headless Shopify storefront, an AI fishkeeping assistant, and a search strategy designed for both Google and ChatGPT.
