Common questions

Is this just a VoIP service or something different?+
It's a VoIP layer, plus the things VoIP services don't do. Traditional VoIP (RingCentral, 8x8, Aircall) gives you cloud lines and a softphone — fine, but you still need to pick up. We bundle the line with our AI receptionist, missed-call text-back, calendar booking, and SMS routing. The result is a phone setup designed around 'every call gets handled' rather than 'every call gets logged'.
Do I need to change my number?+
No. We port your existing number across (free) or sit alongside it as a forward target. You can keep using your current number for calling out and we just handle the inbound side intelligently. Porting takes 2-4 weeks; sit-alongside is 48 hours.
How does it work for multiple staff?+
Each staff member gets a softphone (mobile app + web) and their own DID extension. Calls can ring everyone, ring in sequence, or route to AI if no one picks up. We can build any flow you need — most clients keep it simple: ring the team, then AI after 4 rings.
What about call quality?+
We run on Twilio's UK infrastructure (the same network most banking and NHS digital services use). MOS scores typically 4.4-4.6 (out of 5). HD voice supported. We do encourage a wired or stable Wi-Fi connection for staff softphones — patchy 4G can affect quality.
Can it handle WhatsApp and SMS too?+
Yes. The same number can receive SMS and WhatsApp Business messages, all routed into one inbox or your CRM. WhatsApp requires a separate Business API setup which we handle.
How does this compare on price to RingCentral or Aircall?+
RingCentral starts around £15/user/mo and adds up fast — 5 users, 1 number, basic features = £75-£100/mo. Aircall is similar at £25-£50/user. Our setup starts at £49/mo for the whole business including AI receptionist, missed-call SMS, calendar booking, and 1 number — all the bits you'd need to add à la carte to RingCentral. For 5+ user teams we're typically half the all-in cost.
How long until it's live?+
48 hours if you don't need to port a number. 2-4 weeks if you do (the porting process is governed by Ofcom and we can't speed it up). During the port we run alongside your existing line so nothing breaks.
Will I lose call recordings or call logs?+
No. Every call is recorded (where you've configured consent), every call has a log, all searchable in our dashboard for 12 months as standard, longer on request. Voicemail-to-email is included. AI-receptionist transcripts are available for every call.
GDPR / call-recording consent?+
We help you configure the recording consent message during onboarding and provide template wording. We're UK ICO-registered, sign DPAs with every client, and host call recordings in EU regions.
